United Press International (UPI)
UPI is a leading provider of news, photos and information via UPI.com and its licensing services. As a remote photo producer with UPI, I’m responsible for organizing images as they are filed, creating photo galleries of events and identifying stronger storytelling images for articles from UPI photo archives and public domain stock sites.
Before and After
One of my responsibilities is to select photographs to accompany digital stories either from the UPI photo archive or through public domain photo research. These comparisons display my selections in the After cells, reflecting my choices with efforts to select photos with stronger technical aspects or ethical sensibilities. With limited access the European Press Agency and stock sites, it’s up to my research to find images with public domain usage or from our own archive to run on UPI.com stories.

Selection of photo collections
As photos are filed through UPI or utilizing the UPI photo archive, I curate photo collections that live on the website and are featured on relevant stories on upi.com. Click on the headline to see the collection.
Stock Research
When there isn’t an appropriate image in the UPI archive, I turn to public domain stock sites for photo research. Pixabay, Unsplash, Wikimedia Commons, and Flickr with commerical usage allowed, are my first stops for stock images for UPI.com stories.
